What our customers are saying

I have been getting work from Jan for about awhile now and I am so lucky to have found her! She has such a calming presence and a deep understanding of the body. Being a professional dancer, yoga teacher and surfer, I use my body A LOT. She has really helped me through some minor injuries and I always look forward to a session with her. Can't sing her praises enough.

RESULTS ORIENTED

Through my 20+ years of experience and education, I have determined that my best work involves helping people finding relief from their pain and stress. The work I do goes beyond the average massage session. Through a thorough intake and assessment, we can help identify the sources of your pain, determine possibilities for relief and provide the appropriate bodywork. Also if what you need goes beyond the scope of just massage therapy, I collaborate with a network of practitioners (physical therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors) who can also assist to bring you back to health.

I needed a therapeutic massage, someone who knew what she was doing based on my needs. That's when I met Jan.  Jan was great, fun to talk to and work with. She pointed out areas I had trouble with and what I needed to do.

What are the potential causes of my pain?

Pain manifests in the body's soft tissues due to a number of reasons. Neuromuscular therapy assessments examine:

  • Ischemia (tight muscles causing reduced blood flow)
  • Myofascial trigger points (hypersensitive points within muscles that give rise to referred pain)
  • Nerve entrapment (pressure on nerves by muscles and other soft tissues), and nerve compression (pressure on nerves by bones and other bonelike tissues, such as cartilage or discs)
  • Postural assessment (position of the whole body) and dysfunctional gait patterns (movement when walking)
  • Perpetuating factors for pain (mechanical and metabolic function, nutrition and stress)

I've had shoulder problems for years.

I met with Jan and she took a thorough history before explaining what trigger points were and how they develop. She found several trigger points in my shoulder and after the massage, I could actually move my shoulder more than I had in years! I've met with her a few times now, and each time I gain more mobility. Jan is amazing!

Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT)

My variety of careers  has always centered around helping others.  It seemed a natural progression to become a bodyworker.  In what other profession are people happy to see you and happy when they leave you?!  I have been a bodyworker for 20+ years working on a spectrum of clients from babies to the elderly, weekend warrior to collegiate to professional athletes, people dealing with injuries and chronic pain, and anyone desiring more relaxation and centeredness in their life.  I have also spent over 10 years as an educator and mentor to massage therapy students, a very gratifying experience.  I am fortunate to have found my passion and purpose in life.  I look forward to helping you!
